Good evening, ladies and gentlemen...we are tonight's entertainment! - The Joker [The Dark Knight]What?! Compare ME to BATMAN?! I've got more style! More brains! I'm certainly a better dresser! - The Joker [Batman: The Animated Series] Most Joker mixes that I've seen have been too 'straight.' The lyrics are usually spot on, but the tone tends to be very serious and angry grr. Doesn't really work for me, so I put together one (or two, but that's for tomorrow) of my own. Cause the Joker is snazzy. Also, a bonus track for Harley because I love her so. Find the opening sequence for one of your favorite old TV shows and post it to your LJ. Bonus points for datedness or obscurity. Play as many times as you like. For the record, my favorite show as a kid was Kratts' Creatures, but I can't find a clip of it. So, instead, I hunted down just about every show I'll own up to watching as a child. You've been warned. So, they're not really in any specific order, and some I watched well into middle school, but whatever. They're all cartoons I enjoyed.HAPPY EASTER/LAST DAY OF SPRING BREAK!

[ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE]

So, I think I have a new OTP....I'll just wait here till all the sane people have left, and then it's on to the rambling squee.Have they gone? Okay.Spoilers for Across the Universe, by the way.So.This is Jude. He's from Liverpool, and jumped ship in America to search for his deadbeat dad. Who he found. At Princeton. (His father is a janitor.)This is Max. His family is upper class, and lives in Boston. He attends school at Princeton. This is what happens when Jude and Max collide. Literally.Max is not a very good student. He gets in trouble a lot. Fortunately, Jude is there to save his ass, and be adorably coy. So Max decides they should get really stoned together. Then, Max invites his new boyfriend home for Thanksgiving, which turns out to be awkward. (Because Max drops out of Princeton, not because of Jude. Who is not really his boyfriend, but I can dream.)In an attempt to escape Max's family, Max takes Jude and Max's sister Lucy bowling. During a musical number, Max does something stupid and falls on his face. But that's okay. Because Jude thinks Max is hilarious.I just like this picture. They're adorable.Since Max is no longer going to Princeton, he and Jude move to Greenwich Village, where Max can be as flamboyant as he wants.Unfortunately, everything falls apart. Jude falls in love with Max's sister, and Max is drafted. And Jude and Lucy try and make it work, but Jude still pines for his soldier boy. And creates OMG SUPER EMO art about how much he misses him.Max fights in Vietnam, and it fucks him up a bit.Jude gets involved in a riot, and he's arrested and then deported. Which sucks.Because Max gets hurt, and the Army ships him home, which would be great but his boyfriend is not there to take care of him. So he takes a lot of morphine and feels up Salma Hayek. So Jude is in Liverpool. And Max is in New York, where he grows a mustache of ANGST.And then Max decides he needs Jude to come home, and Jude decides to stop moping about and be a man of action. So everything is okay. Max and Jude can be adorable together forever. In fact, let's watch that last bit again.Okay, I'm good.Jim Sturgess and Joe Anderson - With a Little Help From My FriendsJoe Anderson - Hey Jude

We could use another week of rehearsal, but that's how it always is. I'm more than a little nervous. It's just pre-show jitters, though. I've started keeping track of all the books I read. It's a lot more than I thought. Right now I'm devouring the new Bloody Jack adventure, as well as reading Pride and Prejudice for AP English.
Livejournal and fandom are eating up too much of my time. I'm doing a little defriending, mostly of fannish journals, and people I tend not to talk to very much. If you want to be back on the list and I've defriended you, just leave a comment here.
A Ben Franklin amusement park would be TOTALLY ROCKING.

Summer of 2007 officially begins.

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 4:54 AM
Summer of 2007 officially begins. (Sort of. Memorial Day counts, right?)I never really got around to talking about last weekend, but to summarize a really long and complicated story: It was too crowded to see any celebrities so the Stepdad and I went on rides and enjoyed ourselves instead. I did see Geoffrey Rush passing through the lobby twice, which was neat. Stepdad and I had a long talk about fandom, and I decided that while I loves me some Jack Davenport, I don't love him enough to sit surrounded by screaming fangirls for hours in the heat and then be too chickenshit to ask for an autograph. So, that's the short version. I had a long ramble about not letting fandom overrun your day-to-day life (see above: sitting in heat for hours), but I forgot most of it.Today was wonderful. My oldest and closest group of friends from middle school got together for a pool party. I am tired and sunburnt and well fed and content. Several people asked for the mix cd I brought with me, so I'm uploading it and linking to it here for your listening pleasure. Thoughts on Potc:DMC

  • Nov. 1st, 2009 at 9:01 PM
In short: SQUEEEEE!....Norrington.I loved this movie. I loved it so much that I am suddenly pissed off about my trip to Pennsylvania, as it means I will probably have to wait till August to see it again. However, getting complaints out of the way:I could have done without the many attempts at slapstick. Some of them were funny, some weren't, but there were way too many of them. And the early references to the first movie. "Why is the rum always gone?" was weak. As many other people have said, there was too much time spent on Cannibal Island. And Norrington needed more screen time. He always needs more screen time. They could make a movie entirely devoted to Norrington, and it STILL wouldn't be enough time for his awesomeness. What I loved the most about this movie was that each character had their personalities really shown off for the audience to see. Norrington was clever, ambitious, and generally an honorable man. Jack was a manipulative, selfish, but generally well meaning man. Elizabeth was ruthless and harsh, and despite all that I still liked her immensely. Will didn't do much, in his grand tradition of not doing much. Pintel and Ragetti were back, and Pintel had a strange new accent that kept bothering me. On the other hand, sooo much love for Ragetti and his upside-down bible reading. "The dichotomy between good and evil?" *giggle*I liked Davy Jones, and I'm glad he's not gone yet. You could actually see Bill Nighy's performance, which I was not expecting. The Kraken was interesting, but the time it took to devour it's victims was inconsistent and annoying. Yay for the guard dog! He was cute, and I liked the scene at the end of the credits. Mega yay for monkey!Jack. I really loved the scenes with Jack and monkey!Jack, especially when he presents it to Tia Dalma. "Look! *Bang* An undead monkey!"Norrington was really different in this movie, but I liked the direction they took his character. I hope we get to see more in the next movie. And in conclusion-OMGWTFYAY! Barbossa! With the apple, and the monkey, and the snark! I can't wait for the next one!9 out of 10I'm leaving at four in the morning tomorrow, so this is the last chance I'll get to update. (See previous post regarding Pennsylvania) Wish me luck!
